Pancake Bites

Pancake Mix ( homemade or store bought)
sausage
bacon
chocolate chips
blueberry's
nuts.
whatever you have in the frig

Pour pancake batter in muffin tins and add your favorite toppings

Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes.

Dirt Cake

1 lg. bag Oreo cookies
1/2 stick butter or margarine
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
2 lg. boxes of vanilla instant pudding
2 C, milk
1 (8 oz.) container Cool Whip
8 inch flower pot
Artificial flower (if you desire)
Crush in blender, or food processor, 1 large bag of Oreo cookies, set aside.
Cream together: 1/2 stick butter or margarine
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese

In large bowl, mix 2 large boxes of vanilla instant pudding (add amount of milk
according to package of pudding). Add cream cheese mixture and 8 ounces of Cool Whip.

Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats

1/2 cup butter
10 cups crispy rice cereal
9 cups miniature marshmallows
2 cups mixture of candy corn and Indian candy corn
3/4 cup miniature chocolate chips
Candy pumpkins
Yellow and red food coloring

Melt butter and marshmallows; stir until smooth. In a large bowl, mix rice cereal, candy corn and miniature chips together.
To marshmallow mixture, blend in 2 drops yellow food coloring and 1 drop red food coloring, adding more coloring if necessary to reach desired shade. Add marshmallow mixture to cereal mixture; stir quickly to combine.

Pumpkin Patch Cupcakes

1 sugar pumpkin, (about 1 1/2 pounds), peeled and seeded
1/2 cup Pumpkin Puree, or canned pumpkin puree
1 cup pecans
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Pinch of ground cloves
3/4 cup vegetable oil
4 large eggs
2 seven ounce packages almond paste
Gel food color, orange, brown, and green
Cream Cheese Frosting (below)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Yummie Cookies for the Kids to bake

1/2 C. Cake mix, any flavor
1/2 tsp. Soft butter
1 1/2 to 2 tsp. water

Preheat oven to 350.
Mix butter and cake mix. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons water and blend. Dough needs to be stiff but mixes vary so more water may be needed. Add by drops.
Roll dough on floured surface then cut out cookies.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 5-8 minutes.

About 1 dozen cookies.

Dump Cake

1 can fruit (any kind)
1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick margarine or butter
1 can opener
1 spoon
1 rectangular cake pan

1. Wash hands.
2. Turn on oven to 350 degrees.
3. Put a little butter in the pan and smear it all over the inside.
4. Open fruit and dump it in the pan, juice and all.
5. Dump the dry cake mix evenly over the fruit.
6. Chop up the stick of butter and dump the pieces on to.
7. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
8. Cool

This recipe is simply written for kids to prepare.

Frozen Yogurt Dessert

1 C. plain or vanilla yogurt
1/4 C. sugar
1 tsp. Kool Aid, unsweetened soft
drink mix, any flavor

Combine all ingredients in non metal bowl. Stir until sugar and soft drink mix are dissolved.
Spoon into custard or paper cups.
Freeze until firm, about 3 hours.

Orange Yogurt Frozen Dreams

1 sm. can frozen orange juice concentrate
1 pt. plain yogurt
2 tsp. vanilla
Honey to sweeten (opt.)*

*Never give honey to a child under 2 years.

Beat ingredients together until blended. Fill popsicle molds or paper cups and popsicle sticks.
Freeze 24 hours. Makes 8 (1/2 cup) servings. Counts as fruit serving

They taste much better than they sound.

Popsicles

1 pkg. Jello
1 pkg. Kool-Aid
2/3 C. sugar
2 C. boiling water
4 C. cold water

Dissolve Jello, Kool-Aid and sugar in boiling water. Add the cold water and freeze.
May use 3 ounce Dixie cups and put popsicle sticks in each.

Hot Chocolate Mix

1 8 qt. pkg powdered milk
1 1 lb. can Quik (choc. mix)
1 C. Powdered sugar
1 6 oz. jar dry non-dairy
Coffee Creamer

Combine all ingredients, being sure to mix thoroughly. Store in air-tight container until ready to use.

For a cup of hot chocolate, use about 1/3 cup of the mix per mug and add very hot water. Use more or less mix according to your taste.
This dry recipe makes about 1 gallon of dry mix.

Hot Cocoa Mix

2 C. Nonfat dry milk powder
3/4 C. Sugar
1/2 C. Hershey's Cocoa or Hershey's European Style Cocoa
1/2 C. Powdered non-dairy creamer
dash Salt

In large bowl, combine all ingredients; blend well. Store in tightly covered container. 3-3/4 cups mix (About fifteen 6-ounce servings).
Single Serving: Place 1/4 cup mix in heatproof cup or mug; add 3/4 cup boiling water. Stir to blend.
Serve hot, topped with marshmallow, if desired.

Hot Cocoa

1/2 C. Sugar
1/4 C. Hershey's Cocoa
dash Salt
1/3 C. Hot water
4 C. (1 qt.) milk
3/4 tsp. Vanilla extract

Miniature marshmallows or sweetened whipped cream (optional)
In medium saucepan, stir together sugar, cocoa and salt; stir in water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Boil and stir 2 minutes. Add milk; stirring
constantly, heat to serving temperature. Do Not Boil. Remove from heat; add vanilla. Beat with rotary beater or whisk until foamy.

Serve topped with marshmallows or whipped cream, if desired. Five 8-oz. servings.

Dishwasher Punch

1 can Pineapple juice
1/2 qt Apple juice
1 pk Grape Koolaid
2 pk Berry punch Koolaid
1 pk Tropical Punch Koolaid
1 1/2 pk Strawberry Koolaid
11 qt Water
1 Red food color

Make sure all koolaid is pre-sweetened (or add appropriate sugar. Mix all dry together. Add water and juices. stir well.
Add food color until it looks drinkable. Without food color, it should look like it's name.

Witches Brew

1 qt Apple juice
1 1/2 C. Canned, unsweetened pinapple
2 tb Fresh lemon juice
3 Cinnamon sticks

Mix all ingredients together in a saucepan.
Heat over low heat until ready to serve. Remove cinnamon sticks.

Ladle brew into serving cups.

Hot Buttered Cow

1 lb Brown sugar
1/4 lb Soft butter
1/2 ts Vanilla
1/2 ts Cinnamon
1/4 ts Nutmeg
1/4 ts Cloves
1/4 ts Mace
1/4 ts Allspice
1 pn Salt

Beat sugar and butter together until thoroughly creamed and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and spices.
Chill.
For each cup to be served, place 1+1/2 teaspoons batter in a preheated mug

(Non-Scouting events could also include: 1 1/2 ounces dark rum and 1/2 ounce gold or white rum.)

Stir well.

Fill with hot milk and serve.

Kids Trail Mix

4 C. Chex cereal
1/2 C. Dried fruit bits
1/2 C. Raisins
1/2 C. Yogurt covered peanuts
1/2 C. Reeces Pieces

Put into a large ziploc bag and shake to mix.

Doughboys

1/2 C. Flour
1 tsp. Baking powder
1 tsp. Shortening
pinch Salt
1/4 C Water
1 Hot dog
You can also use 3/4 cup of biscuit mix.

Mix ingredients with shortening and then add water.
Put hot dog on green stick and wrap dough around it.
Cook holding 6 inches from coals so inside will cook and then brown nearer to the coals.

Ensure the dough is not too sticky.

Twisters

Biscuit mix
Milk or water
Honey

Follow the direction on the biscuit box using a little less liquid than called for.
Twist the dough around the end of of a green stick. Hold rotating slowly over hot coals of fire until cooked.

Dip into honey and enjoy.
Can also use butter and jam.

Rice Krispy Treats

4 Tblsp. Butter
4 C.Marshmallows or 10 oz
5 C. Rice krispie cereal

Melt butter in saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir till melted. Cook 3 minutes, stirring constantly .
Remove from heat, add Rice Krispies and stir till all are coated. Using buttered spatula, press evenly into buttered 13x9x2" pan.

Cool. Cut into 2" squares.

S'Mores

Marshmallows
Hershey bars
Graham crackers
Green sticks or coat hangers

Get prepared by getting 1 large graham cracker and breaking it in half. Cover 1/2 of the graham
cracker with Hershey bar.

Put a marshmallow (or 2) on the stick and hold it over the fire until roasted.
Some people like them lightly golden, others like to catch them on fire and then blow the fire out.
If you do that, be careful. You have to put the fire out quickly or your marshmallow will fall on the ground.

Homemade Chicken Nuggets

6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 cups buttermilk
3 sleeves of Ritz crackers, crushed to fine powder
1/2 onion, sliced
4 cloves of garlic, smashed
1/4 tsp black pepper (generous heaping!)
1/8 tsp cayenne

If the chicken breasts are very thick, put them one at a time into a freezer bag so that it lies flat and pound with a rolling pin until the chicken is uniformly flat, then take them out and cut them into nuggets.
You want pieces about 1 inch square. Do trim out any gristly bits, and trim off any big pieces of fat or very thin pieces.

Raisin Oatmeal Mix (Instant Bulk Mix)

6 cups quick cooking oats
1/2 cup of raisins
1/2 cup chopped dried apples or dried banana chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds, pecans etc)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 teaspons of ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon of salt
additional ingredient when preparing..
3/4 cup water or milk

Directions
In a bowl combine first 8 ingredients Divide into 2 batches. Store in air tight containers in a cool dry place for up to 1 month

Yeilds 7 cups of mix!

Cheerio Candy

2 pounds white chocolate
1 cup creamy peanut butter
4 cups Cheerios
2 cups miniature marshmallows
2 cups peanuts

Melt chocolate. Add peanut butter; blend well. Add Cheerios, marshmallows and peanuts.
Drop onto wax paper-lined cookie sheet.

Hot Cocoa for One

Combine:
1/2 cup dry instant nonfat dry milk,
1 tbs. sugar
1 1/2 tbs. baking cocoa in mug or cup, stir in 1 cup boiling water.

Garnish with Whipped Cream or miniature marshmallows before serving, if desired...

Makes 1 serving.

Mini Corn Dogs

Slide each of a 14 oz pkg mini hot dogs lengthwise onto wooden skewers.
Combine 1 cup pancake mix, 1 egg, and 1/2 cup water.

Pour vegetable oil into a saucepan, heat to 350°.
Dip dogs in batter then in oil until golden, 30 seconds, then serve with ketchup or mustard for dipping if desired...

Makes 6 servings.

Sure Fire, No Fire S'mores-Paula Deen

6 sandwich cookies
6 whole graham crackers
1 bag mini marshmallows
3 (1.55 ounces) Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars, split into 2

Split graham cracker into 2 halves. On top of graham cracker squares place mini-marshmallows.
Place under broiler for a few seconds until toasty. Remove and place 1/2 of a Hershey bar on top of marshmallow.
The heat from the marshmallow will melt the chocolate bar. Place other 1/2 of graham cracker on top.
Press lightly to flatten marshmallows.
These may be made ahead and wrapped in plastic wrap until ready to heat and eat.

Salt Dough Ornaments

1 C. flour
1/4 C. salt
6 tbsp. water

Combine flour and salt. Then add water. Dough should be soft but not sticky. Knead until all salt is worked in and dough is smooth.
Roll out and cut with cookie cutters. Make hole for hanger.
Bake at 275 degrees for 3 hours, check periodically.
They are done when completely hard.

Cool before painting with felt tip markers or paint and coat with high gloss polyurethane.

Look pretty with nop paint and only the High gloss polyurethane on them.

Tree Ornaments

2 C. baking soda (1 lb. box)
1 C. cornstarch
1 1/4 C. water

Combine and mix thoroughly. Stir over medium heat until low boil. *Continue stirring until dough-like consistency.
Cool in airtight container or plastic bag in refrigerator. When dough cools knead and roll out to 1/4 inch thickness.
Use cookie cutters to make the shapes desired. With the end of a pencil make a small hole for hanging ornament.

Place shapes on a wax paper lined cookie sheet and allow to dry for 1- 2 days. Don't turn over to dry; might result in cracking.

Simple Stained Glass Tree Ornamnets

1 bag looped pretzels
Assorted hard candies
Curling ribbon for hanging

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place pretzels on cookie sheet covered with aluminum foil.
Place hard candy in Baggies and crush with hammer into coarse pieces. Fill the bottom 2 loops of each pretzel with candy pieces.

Bake until candy is melted, about 5 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.
When candy is cool, peel carefully from aluminum foil and break off any candy that has leaked out of the loops.
